Haryana Panchayat Polls
- The result of the Haryana Panchayat polls was declared on 27-11-2022 in the state.
- The elections to 143 panchayat Samiti and 22 were held in three phases.
- Haryana has 22 Zila Parishad comprising 411 members. The member elects the 22 Zila Parishad chiefs. A total of 3,072 candidates participated in the election for these seats.
- The state has 143 Panchayat Samiti, comprising 3,081 members who will further elect their respective presidents.
- Out of 3,081 members of 143 Panchayat Samiti in the state, 117 had been already unanimously elected. For the remaining seats, a total of 11,888 candidates contested the election.
Important facts about Haryana Panchayat Polls results:
• Indian National Lok Dal, which contested 72 seats of Zila Parishad, won over 14 seats in the polls.
• Indian National Lokdal’s Karan Chautala, son of Abhay Chautala won the seat of Zila Parishad in Sirsa by more than 600 votes.
• Kurukshetra BJP MP Nayab Singh Saini’s wife had defeated by an Independent from ward number 4 of Ambala Zila Parishad.
• In Panchkula BJP had lost all 10 seats it had contested on the party symbol.
• In Sirsa BJP had lost all 10 seats it had contested on the party symbol
• In Ambala BJP had won on just two-seat, one seat less than AAP’s 3 seats.
• In Gurugram, BJP had won just four out of 10 seats contested on the party symbol.
Not a Good Sign for BJP:
In Zila Parishad wards, the ruling party had won only 22 of the 102 seats contested on its symbol. This is not a good sign for BJP. The results of these panchayat elections are more significant as nearly 65% of the population lives in rural areas of the state.
- In this type of election, political parties field their candidates on party symbols for only those seats on which they are assured to win.
- A few days after the win in the Adampur bypoll, this poor performance of the BJP is a matter of worry for future elections.
- The loss of all 10 seats contesting on their symbol will affect the party more because Panchkula is nearer to the State capital Chandigarh.
- The loss of 6 seats out of the seats it contested on the party symbol in Gurugram is also a matter of worry for the BJP.
- However, the BJP leader said that if where the BJP did not contest the party symbol, winners are backed up by the party.
What about AAP?
- Due to the win in the panchayat election in Sirsa and Ambala, AAP has a ray of hope for future elections in Haryana.
- •AAP leader says that the party has won 15 seats out of over 100 seats it contested on the party symbol.
- After getting only 2.6 percent votes in the Adampur poll, AAP will be encouraged by these small wins.
