Do you want to know about the “Gang of 5” strategy
When I was a teenager, my mom didn’t like a few of my friends.
I used to get very resistant (just like any other teenager)…
“Why doesn’t my mom let me hang out with these guys?”
I had to hide from my mom that I was going out to play with those friends.
My mom was right.
My grades dropped.
I would get punished in school for being mischievous.
I would get into unnecessary trouble.
I didn’t like what was happening…
So out of frustration, I stopped hanging out with that gang.
I started becoming friends with my school head boy and head girl.
The head girl was intelligent and was an athlete, a spell bee champion, and a great orator.
Oh by the way even my mom “approved” of his friendship.
(it’s crazy how our mothers instinctively know what’s best for us)
Within months of sitting next to this new friend, I saw a significant increase in my grades, confidence, and my leadership skills.

I learned it the hard way…
“You are an average of your 5 friends.”
If 5 of your closest friends are broke then you will be the 6th one.
If 5 of your closest friends have rude behavior then you will be the 6th one.
If 5 of your closest friends are chain smokers then you will be the 6th one.
If 5 of your closest friends are unhealthy then you will be the 6th one.
So the best thing you can do to speed up your progress in any area of life is this:
Build a circle of 5 friends who have already accomplished what you want to do.
(or)
At least has the same goals as you do.

This strategy is based on the idea that surrounding yourself with successful and like-minded individuals can have a positive impact on your own personal and professional growth.
By forming a group of friends who have already achieved what you aspire to, you can benefit from their experiences, knowledge, and guidance. They can provide insights, advice, and support as you navigate your own journey toward achieving your goals. Being part of such a group can also create a sense of accountability, motivation, and inspiration, as you witness the achievements of your peers and strive to match or surpass them.
Here are some potential benefits of the “Gang of 5” strategy:
- Mentoring and guidance: Your friends can share their experiences, lessons learned, and valuable advice to help you overcome challenges and make informed decisions.
- Networking opportunities: Being part of a group with successful individuals can open doors to new connections and opportunities within your desired field or industry.
- Supportive environment: Surrounding yourself with friends who have similar goals can create a supportive and motivating atmosphere where you can learn from each other and celebrate each other’s achievements.
- Accountability: When you have a close-knit group of friends who are committed to their own success, it can foster a sense of accountability and encourage you to stay focused and committed to your own goals.

Remember that building such a group requires effort, genuine relationships, and reciprocity. It’s important to contribute to the group as well by offering your own insights and support. Additionally, while having a “Gang of 5” can be beneficial, it’s also important to diversify your network and seek perspectives from a variety of sources to gain a well-rounded understanding of your field or area of interest.
There is a strategy I used to build my circle of winners.
It’s called the “Gang of 5” strategy.
I’ll talk more about this strategy in my upcoming blog posts, until then…
